Gift Guide No. 6 | The Beauty Lover

Today’s gift guide is for those of you who have women in your lives who love makeup, but don’t always like spending on themselves. Christmas is the perfect time to treat them to a special beauty item that they wouldn’t normally buy! Some of the above are tried and true items that I know and love, and others are products that I haven’t personally tried, but have heard great things about and are on my own beauty wish list. What is nice about these is that many of these would make lovely gifts on their own and are readily available at either Sephora or Nordstrom. So, get a piece of paper out, make your list and cross those last people off your list!

The Foreo Luna is something I’ve had my eye on for awhile because it claims to be more gentle and hygienic than others like it. This would make a great gift for someone who is into skincare.

I know what you’re thinking about the next product. Forty dollars for a lipstick? And while I would normally agree with you, I can’t this time and I’m sorry. I treated myself to this lipstick during a sale at Sephora and haven’t looked back since. It’s THE perfect colour, moisturizing, smells fantastic and has beautiful packaging. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the price.

The next two are products that I’ve heard great things about but haven’t tried myself. I haven’t yet delved into the world of Charlotte Tilbury makeup but this might have to be my first entry. It looks like the perfect everyday matte palette. Likewise, the Marc Jacobs blushes have great reviews and this one looks like the perfect, everyday flush of colour.

I know a concealer on a Christmas gift guide sounds a bit weird but hear me out: it’s the best concealer I’ve ever tried. This is probably something I’d recommend getting for a girlfriend or sister who you know is into makeup, because I hate to imagine the reaction you’d get on Christmas morning after your partner opens up a gift of unsolicited concealer. However, it covers beautifully and leaves a nice finish. I highly recommend it!

I couldn’t have a beauty gift guide without including a LORAC palette. Again, I haven’t tried this product myself but have heard wonderful things. It can be difficult to get your hands on in Canada which is why I think it would be a great gift for the beauty lover in your life.

The GLAMGLOW Supermud set would make a great gift for someone who hasn’t tried the brand yet. It contains three of their bestselling face masks that have great reviews.

Whether you use this guide to help finish your Christmas shopping, or to add more items to your own wish list, enjoy!

Gift Guide No. 5 | The Fashion Lover

Apparently there are only twelve days until Christmas. Now that I’ve typed that out, it doesn’t seem like a long time. There is still lots of shopping to be done, goodies to be baked and gifts to be wrapped. For now, I’m sharing a gift guide with you for the lady who loves fashion. You’ll probably notice that most of these items aren’t exactly trendy but are more for the gal who loves classic pieces that will be in style for a long while. Fair warning: some of these items are on the pricier side so share with your lady-friends at your own risk!

In my opinion, every girl needs at least a couple of blazers in her closet and you can’t go wrong with this beautiful light grey one. It has great structure and as an added, fun detail, also has elbow patches.

I’ve had my eye on these Sam Edelman booties since last year. They look like they’d be comfortable but are still stylish which I think are two qualities that any girl would love in footwear.

The Horse is a company that I discovered earlier this year, but only recently did I really fall in love with their watches. Each of the designs are so sleek and classic that I think you could find a watch to suit anyone’s taste. My personal favourite is the rose gold and blush combination.

I am a bit of a plaid shirt hoarder and this one by J. Crew Factory is pretty perfect. It’s a nice, lightweight fabric that is easily paired with a blazer or statement necklace. Speaking of necklaces, this Leah Alexandra one is dainty and beautiful.

Christmas is a good time to spoil someone you love with new accessories that they may not otherwise buy themselves. The Cuyana travel case set (which can be personalized as well!), the Quay sunglasses, the Fossil wallet or the Zara scarf would all be delightful gifts to receive on Christmas morning.

You may or may not have noticed that I have saved the best for last. If you really want to treat someone to something special then may I suggest either the Prada card holder or the Mansur Gavriel Mini Mini bucket bag? Either of these stunning gifts should be reserved only for those found firmly on the nice list this year. Have I mentioned how lovely you look today?

I hope some of the items from this list provide some inspiration for your last-minute holiday shopping. The countdown begins!

Gift Guide No. 4 | The Homebody

Have you finished all of your Christmas shopping? Me neither. And don’t worry because I’ve got your back. Whether you have home decorators to buy for or parties to attend, I’ve rounded up a good number of ideas that will make your shopping experience simple and stress-free.

Now that it starts to get dark here around 4 PM, you can usually find me holed up at home, sipping a cup of tea with my sweatpants on, candle lit, and curled up in a blanket. I take being cozy seriously, which is why I decided to dedicate an entire gift guide for the home bodies in your life. I would be delighted to receive any of the above, and I think any of your loved ones would, too!

I’m going to be bold here: You, and all your loved ones, need a hot water bottle. There really is nothing like crawling into bed and warming your toes up on one. I don’t have this specific one, but I use mine almost every single day during the winter. Canadian winters are serious business.

As you may have guessed by now, I love candles. Especially in the fall and winter, I almost always have at least one candle burning. I have some favourite scents, but I couldn’t resist adding the new Rifle Paper Co. candles to this gift guide. A candle that looks as beautiful as it smells? I’m in! A couple of great companions for this gift for someone truly special would be either the Jonathan Adler Match Strike, which is as quirky and fun as it is useful, or the Paddywax Candle Wick Trimmer, which would look stunning on a tray or coffee table.

If anyone knows how to do sweatpants, it’s Roots. They’re classic, comfortable and cozy; what more could you want from a pair of sweatpants? I’d personally suggest pairing them with cozy slippers and a warm throw.

Last and most certainly not least, if you have anyone to buy for who is a tea lover, I’d strongly suggest picking up one of the David’s Tea ‘Perfect Mugs‘. I received one as a gift a couple of years ago, and it is still one of my favourite mugs. I can’t decide which is the best part: the fact that it comes with a stainless steel infuser that never allows leaves into your tea or the fact that it has a lid, which keeps it piping hot while it steeps. It really is the perfect mug.

A word of warning: you may have to start hanging out more at your loved one’s house after gifting any of these items because they may never leave the house again. Happy shopping!

Gift Guide No. 3 | The Decorator

It’s day three of the holiday gift guides and today I’m comin’ at ya with a gift guide for the home decorator. Now, I don’t like to play favourites but between you and me, I think this one is my favourite. (Don’t tell the others.)

One of my favourite things to do is to brainstorm design plans for our home and then hunt for the items that I think will be perfect. This habit made it easy to create this gift guide for the decorator because I feel like I always have an on going wish list of beautiful items to add to our home.

I am a fan of neutrals, as you may be able to tell from this list, but I think that almost anyone would love to receive any of the items above. In my opinion, a particularly safe bet would be the Aesop hand wash which is both luxurious and beautiful, and something that would be a treat to receive as a gift. Similarly, the Thymes Frasier Fir is a scent that I can’t seem to get enough of during the holiday season. It is one of my favourite candles and is best at filling your entire home with the warm and festive scent.

If you really want to spoil someone, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Bose bluetooth speakers. We have an older Bose SoundDock version that we love and use on a daily basis. The neutral Moroccan pouf is another gift that I think almost anyone would love because it would go with just about anything. We just purchased one during a Black Friday sale and I can’t wait to put it in our living room!

The Indigo glass display box would make a beautiful gift, particularly for someone who is fond of gold accents in their home. I treated myself to the large display case and love using it to store jewelry that I wear on a regular basis.

I couldn’t make this gift guide for the home decorator without including a print from my favourite paper company, Rifle Paper Co. Anyone who is close to me or has been to my home knows just how much I love everything and anything Rifle Paper Co. The Vase Study No. 3 is a stunning print that I think would look great in a bathroom, a gallery wall or in a home office. My home is starting to look like a Rifle Paper Co. museum, so please, someone else buy it so I can live vicariously through you!

Which of these items would you pick for the home decorator on your list (or yourself)? Let me know in the comments below!

01. Aesop Hand Wash $39

02. Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co. Print $99

Gift Guide No. 2 | The Home Cook

Welcome to the second gift guide here on Toast and Tea! I had fun creating this gift guide by looking around at home for items that I already own and love and doing some research about a few things that are on my own wish list! As someone who loves to cook , I think it’s important to have tools that provide both function and design into your home. This logic might help explain the white Le Creuset dutch oven with the gold handle and the gold West Elm flatware. Are you with me?

A few of the things that I already own and can recommend are the spiralizer (it’s small, affordable, and most important, works really well!), the chef’s knife (my go-to knife for chopping and preparing meals), the Boos block (it’s huge which is convenient for chopping multiple ingredients) and the Aeropress (makes THE best coffee).

I think that any at-home cook would love any of these gifts. Check below to shop this post!

My Cup of Tea

I am someone who firmly believes that a cup of tea can fix just about anything. Settling down for an evening of relaxation? Make yourself a cup of tea. Stressed about work? Make yourself a cup of tea. It’s Monday? You guessed it. Make yourself a cup of tea!

I think I must have picked this up as a habit from my mom, who I enjoyed many cups of tea with over the years. My love for tea started when I was young and enjoyed fruity teas that I secretly piled sugar into when my mom wasn’t looking. Maybe she noticed how quickly I drank my tea or how much I thoroughly enjoyed it. One night, she asked for a sip and I knew my days of sugary tea were over.

Despite this minor setback, I still rarely go a day without a cup of my favourite tea. You should try it, too!

This cup of tea I’m suggesting you make is not just any cup of tea. I have to admit that I am a bit of a tea snob. By that, I don’t mean that I only drink the fanciest of teas. What I mean is that when I’m feeling like a cup of tea, about 99% of the time I will go for only one type of tea: Twinings Earl Grey tea. Not only is it the best, it’s always available at Costco for an amazing price.

As far as I’m concerned, there’s only one way to enjoy a cup of Earl Grey and that is brewed strong and with a dash of milk. I suggest you try it out, and come back to let me know what you think!

What is your favourite kind of tea?
